Boca Helping Hands, is a non-profit
organization which offers help to the underprivileged.
Boca Helping Hands first opened as a Food Center in November,
1998, serving nutritious hot lunches 3 days a week and giving
out bags of groceries to families. An after-school sandwich
program started in March, 1999. Currently the organization serves 5
after-school programs for low-income children during the school
year, making and delivering over 60,000 sandwiches annually to
approximately 360 children.
The Food Program has expanded to five days a week and includes
delivering home cooked meals to homebound disabled and elderly
individuals. In 2005, they serve nearly 25,000 lunches to an
average of about 100 people per day and delivered over 7,000
meals to the homebound.
This
project is set to start during the Fall Semester. Most likely, we will
be helping with the serving of food, organizing the warehouse, and
other things.
