What is the difference between active and provisional membership?
A provisional member is essentially a visitor to the club and has no voting rights, cannot participate in the international convention, and cannot run for an officer position. An active member obtains the above rights in addition to resources such as collegefish.org (scholarship and transfer database), lifetime PTK membership, honorable mention at graduation and on transcript, and access to thousands of dollars in scholarships given only to PTK members. Officers essentially have a much more competitive advantage for scholarships and acceptance into other transfer schools and careers.

Steps towards becoming a member
Once you have met the requirements, there are a number of ways to obtain membership.
First: Contact an Officer or our Chapter Advisor, or stop by our cubicle in the Student Life building. Ask for the membership form, or go to the documents page on the navigation bar and download/fill out the application form.
Next: Once the form is filled out and your requirements met, make your check payable to Phi Theta Kappa (cash is only accepted through the advisor) and hand in to one of the Officers in the cubicle or to the Chapter Advisor.
Final: Your membership package should arrive in the mail after a few weeks, also be sure to check your e-mail and the web page for upcoming events and workshops.
There is also an alternative online option. Please contact our advisor [mhills@broward.edu] for more information on obtaining membership online.
